A small cabin rest on the top
Of the most beautiful scenery
In the great state of Tennessee
That small humble cabin is
My home in the Appalachian

From there I can clearly see
The blue covered valleys below
The green forest that makes it full
The white clouds that hover above
My home in the Appalachian

Surrounded by wildlife I often see
The gentle numerous deer feed and play
While the vicious wolves stalk their prey
And I hear birds singing their songs near
My home in the Appalachian

I am compelled to come down
For work where I feel terribly blue
Wishing the day was already through
So that I can happily return to
My home in the Appalachian

This place, filled with beauty and wonder
Its value is worth a fortune of billions
Even if someone offered me trillions
I’d declined for I will never sell
My home in the Appalachian

I hardly get lonely up here
Only when my friends and family
Come and go for a day to visit me
Being alone is why I enjoy living in
My home in the Appalachian

I do not ask for much only
That I spent the rest of my life
Up in the mountains with my wife
Until I finally collapsed and die in
My home in the Appalachian
